so use XLR to XLR and shorter the better (ie under 15ft) don't use the included XLR to 1/4" cable that came with the mic, it's garbage and unshielded so it picks up noise like crazy. I'm a little surprised at the trouble you are having with the Behringer's input noise, those midas preamps are really good for the price. It's not perfect for vocals and more of an everything mic and requires phantom power to operate so you have to use the behringer or presonus instead of the Evo. Mostly flat response across the frequency range so you can tune your own sound in the range you want to use. It will work, but you may end up turning down the high frequencies to eliminate hiss earlier than other mics. This makes for a great open airy vocal signal which is awesome for podcasts and (mostly) female vocals. Notice the roll off (becoming less sensitive to) between 200hz and 50hz, this is the raw deep tonal range in many vocals, and the brightening (more sensitive) up at the ~5000-15000hz range where all the lightness and alot of clarity sibilance (hiss/ S sounds) reside.
